BENTON PARK

THE FEEL

Named after the second oldest park in St. Louis, Benton Park was declared a Federal Historic District in 1985. For homebuyers that seek a touch of art with a stately presence, there are turn-of–the-century homes often brick and multi-level. With recently rehabbed quality homes, this neighborhood attracts a demographically diverse mix of young professionals, immigrants, and artists.

HISTORY

Attention Bargain Hunters, Home Renovators, and Historians: There is a wide selection of shells and inhabitable-but-unrestored buildings perfect as fixer uppers or home flips.

ACCESSIBILITY

There is plenty to do in this historic neighborhood, but it’s also easy to get out and explore. Near highway 55 and Gravois, it’s easy to commute to downtown St. Louis and just a short drive from the Arch.

CULTURE

Along with the rich architecture, Benton Park has become a foodie hub.  Gus’ Pretzels is one of the more well known institutions to come out of Benton Park, and has been a St. Louis staple since 1920.

On Benton Park’s historic Cherokee Antique Row, there are always new surprises. Each shop, eatery, and retail location is independently owned and operated. Find a personal florist, coffee shop, and barber on one street. Yes, it has it all.

ENTERTAINMENT

Benton Park offers a wide selection of restaurants, bars, and local attractions. Taste St. Louis’ first beer on an Anheuser Busch Brewery Tour, play detective at the haunted Lemp Mansion at a comedy-mystery dinner, or learn a new step at the well-known Casa Loma Ballroom.

People from every direction come for the bites and sounds of Benton Park, where you can pair Blues with a Po-Boy, enjoy live music with a latte, or just listen to the crunch of its famous fried chicken.

SCHOOLS

Part of the St. Louis City School District, Benton Park is near public elementary, middle, and high schools. The neighborhood is also accessible to several private and independent academies.
